One Piece AR Carddass Formation 02 coming soon

Japan version of Volume 2 is coming on 22 September 2012 according to cdjapan.co.jp. I wonder what new characters and new abilities will join in the battle. It will be another set of 49 cards.

Update: More information from this poster/picture courtesy of 航海王 AR Carddass ARtaiwan Facebook page. I don't understand most of it but from the pictures, Boa Hancock and Crocodile are going to be the 2 king rares this time under point 2. The new characters I see are Blackbeard, Whitebeard (as the big boss?), Mr. 2 and Mr. 3 . Under point 4, you can try translating the Japanese words for the 11 new characters joining. There is also going to be a 6 vs 1 Big Boss Battle.

More Info released about the One Piece AR Carddass Formation Singapore Launch Events from their Singapore Facebook Page

Boss Marker Competition

I didn't know this was a weekly thing but from the comments, you'll get a trading figure. (From the comments, it is the mini keychain type you see in the next link) The Luffy I fought wasn't too tough and from the poster, the other 2 bosses are Brook and Princess Shirahoshi.

Promotion

I'm glad I managed to get the Chopper promo card and it is the only promotion I wanted. I didn't flash this promo as the information wasn't released at that time. Therefore, I think without flashing this promotion, you can still Chopper but it's better to be safe than to be sorry so bring along your Internet-enabled Smartphone!

iOS version 1.1 update and Singapore Launch Event at Takashimaya

Version 1.1 mostly brings bug fixes. I used to get black screens on my iPhone 4 during battles. It happens mostly during before or after the start of a special move movie, the black screen just remains indefinitely. I hope this update fixes it. The other change is that the app icon has a 1.1 wording and Luffy looks clearer to me!

I just came back from the Takashimaya Toy Fair and checked out the booth there. There wasn't anyone checking it out when I was there and all the people were busy shopping for toys in the Toy Fair. There were 3 tablets (I think they were iPads) displaying the game but I didn't check them out. Instead I went over to the counter to check out the promotions. It turns out that you can get the promotional FPR01 Chopper card here by buying 3 packs. Buying 3 packs in the 7-11 here in Singapore gets you either FPR03 Ace, FPR04 Luffy, FPR05 Boa Hancock or FPR06 Jinbe but check with the staff about the promo cards before buying.

Each pack contains 3 cards and the rarity inside is random from what I gather; there is no fix number of common or rares in each pack. One pack costs $6.90 and I find it quite expensive. I guess it is probably to offset the backend Server maintenance costs. (they are up 24/7?) There is also a QR code for you to scan a boss battle with Luffy. The other important information I got from the event was that FPR02 Shanks is coming in the September issue of YG (Young Generation?) magazine. That is something to look out for!

Update: Just saw another magazine named YG. It is a fashion magazine which has a Singapore edition so you might want to look out for that if the Young Generation September Magazine does not have the promo card.

One Piece AR Carddass Formation World Introduction and Review

If you've heard of Mushiking, I will say this game's core is exactly like it but you replace the beetles with One Piece characters. I'm a fan of One Piece and since the 3DS game didn't localise for US, this game will have to do for a portable One Piece game.

Although the game is basically a rock-paper-scissors (moves are renamed strike, break and cut respectively) game, there is still enough variation to it so that it does not get to dull. Each character has a skilled move (strike, break or cut) which will do more damage. If you complete a series of moves, you will also unleash your special move which results in a short cinematic cutscene. One top of all those, each character also has a special ability like damage increase or reduction. Lastly, the game can also randomly decide to grant you knowledge of what move your opponent is going to choose from the compass found in the between the characters' health bar. This is called mantra pose and sometimes I miss out on it by choosing my moves too fast. Edit: There is also a Guard Chance mini-game to reduce the damage if you get hit, just press all the fists that appears on screen under the time limit.

You start with 3 characters and an additional one through aiming your camera at a round object like a coin. One of the main special feature of this game is the QR/AR function where you can scan a picture code and a character will appear on it. You are mainly using the function to add new members to your crew as well as form teams from cards which you can buy packs of 3 cards from 7-11 stores.

The game saves to servers and for Apple devices, I think it locks on to your Device ID as I tried deleting and re-installing on the iPad. Upon loading, it retrieves your previous save data from the server without any choice. For your crew, you can only register each card once and it is verified through the servers. You do have the option to de-register the cards and otherwise I think it will all be tied to your device. I rather NamcoBandai uses iCloud or a specialised game account so you can play your game on any number of iDevices. There is facebook integration but it only allows one facebook account that is linked to be active at a time. I've also never figured out how the save games are tied to the facebook account.

The game requires an Internet connection at the start and there will be a special event retrieved from the game servers each day to encourage you to open the game everyday, for example, Sundays are boss event battles day. You engage in battles with your crew, bosses or events and gain berries to buy items from the shop and experience to level up to level 30. After battles, you can also gain items, treasures or new team formation. There are also special items you can get from unlocking achievements.

The game is free but to get the full experience, you will need to buy packs. At the start, there are How to play tutorial screens and my future posts will concentrate on other information about the game. Here are some more useful links:

Updating about the lack of updates

It's going to be a year since the release of Tag Force 6 for PSP (Japan ver.) and there is still no news of the US ver. or World Championship 2012 for DS or 3DS. Has Konami given up on the video game franchise?

My current "craze" is the One Piece AR Carddass Formation World app for iPhone and Android phones and seeing that I can hardly find much sites on it, my next few posts will be about the game!

Magic 2013 out for iPad

Self-plagiarised from my other Magic blog: I’ve been looking forward to playing this as I had the PS3 2012 version and wanted to see the improvements. For one, I find the loading time on the iPad to be much faster. I don’t intend to unlock the full version yet as I’m still busy playing Diablo 3 and can afford to wait for any price drop. Overall, the game is fun but I have some minor issues with the graphics on my iPad 2. It seems that the game were meant for the new iPad as it wasn’t sharp and in Planechase mode particularly, the cards are hard to read unless you zoom in.

I also had difficulty with discarding more than 1 card as there are no visual indicators for the cards that were selected. Those are still not enough to keep me from buying it, even at full price, but only after I’m done with Diablo.

Update: I also notice that there is no option to mulligan your hand at the start.

Assassin's Creed Recollection Revelations Expansion

You get 30 more missions and additional chances to win credits. I think it is a good deal for USD$2.99 but I'm busy with Diablo 3 so I won't be getting it any time soon.
