Nintendo DS Yugioh World Championship 2010 Reverse of Arcadia

The game has a Duel Calculator mode that is very useful. There is English mode available in the game although the region, box, card and manual is in Japanese. It is still using the Sept 2009 Banlist but the new banlist is downloadable through WIFI.

My tip for beginning players: Buy the structure decks for staples like Heavy Storm and Mystical Space Typhoon and save your DP for buying newer packs. Every time you beat Nino in a structure deck duel, check the Card Shop as the deck may be available there. However, I think you are only allowed to buy one structure deck until you complete the game.

More of GB and Lightsworns for the next format

2 more decks from SJC Los Angeles: http://www.konami.com/yugioh/blog/?p=1527

See Huang Yeem GB
Unaffected by March Banlist and the 2 Fissure can be replaced with Smashing Ground. This is more OCG-like in my opinion, with the low monster count and 3 G. Proving Grounds. He also didn't attempt to replace the 2 Solemns.

Julian Wong Zombie/Lightsworn
Some of the choices are already close to the March Banlist. The 2 Charges can be replaced with 1 Foolish Burial and 1 Reinforcement of the Army (ROTA). The rest of the cards that require replacement: 1 Mezuki, 1 Burial from a D.D. , 1 Chaos Sorcerer and 1 Necro Gardna. This may be the way to go for both Zombies and Lightsworns next format. TCGPlayer.com has a good article on this hybrid, written by Kevin Cavanagh: http://yugioh.tcgplayer.com/db/article.asp?ID=2393

Interestingly, both players above had a feature match in SJC Los Angeles: http://www.konami.com/yugioh/blog/?p=1475

Zombies for the next format

Modified from Adam Corn's Diva Zombies from SJC Los Angeles:
http://www.konami.com/yugioh/blog/?p=1527

Monsters (19)
1 Mezuki
2 Goblin Zombie
2 Mystic Tomato
2 Caius the Shadow Monarch
1 Sangan
1 Zombie Master
1 Gorz the Emissary of Darkness
1 Dark Armed Dragon
1 Spirit Reaper
2 Deep Sea Diva
1 Tragoedia
2 Pyramid Turtle
1 Plaguespreader Zombie
1 Blackwing – Gale the Whirlwind

Spells (13)
1 Allure of Darkness
1 Mind Control
1 Brain Control
3 Book of Moon
1 Heavy Storm
1 Mystical Space
Typhoon
1 Enemy Controller
1 My Body As A Shield
2 Book of Life
1 Burial from a Different Dimension

Traps (8)
2 Bottomless Trap Hole
1 Mirror Force
1 Torrential Tribute
1 Dust Tornado
1 Trap Dustshoot
1 Solemn Judgment
1 Phoenix Wing Wind Blast

Adam Corn's deck already uses 1 Burial from a Different Dimension. Not much changes is required for the new format. I think unlike the previous time where Mezuki to 1 resulted in very few zombie decks used in tournaments, this format should be slow enough for Zombies to remain competing.

GB for the next format

Modified from Michael Kohanim GB deck from US Nationals 2009:
http://www.pojo.biz/board/showthread.php?t=726861

Monsters: 19
3x Test Tiger
2x Gladiator Beast Laquari
2x Gladiator Beast Equeste
1x Rescue Cat
2x Gladiator Beast Samnite
2x Cyber Dragon
1x Gladiator Beast Darius
1x Gladiator Beast Bestiari
1x Gladiator Beast Hopolomus
1x Gladiator Beast Secutor
1x X-Saber Airbellum
1x Gladiator Beast Retiari
1x Gladiator Beast Murmillo

Spells: 08
3x Book of Moon
1x Gladiator Proving Ground
1x Heavy Storm
2x Smashing Ground
1x Mystical Space Typhoon

Traps: 13
2x Bottomless Trap Hole
3x Dimensional Prison/Waboku
1x Solemn Judgment
2x Dark Bribe
2x Gladiator Beast War Chariot
1x Mirror Force
1x Torrential Tribute
1x Trap Dustshoot

It's interesting how OCG GB usually run fewer monster count with 3 copies of Gladiator Proving Ground whereas TCG sports more monsters and fewer Gladiator Proving Ground. I'm sticking to this build by Micheal Konahim that took 2nd place in US Nationals 2009 plus some cards that were released from March 2010 banlist.

Arcanite Beat for the next format

Based on: http://www.pojo.biz/board/showpost.php?p=16933052&postcount=560
Posted by Squairrelmanajh and deck by Jeff Jones.

Monsters (21)
1 Rescue Cat
1 Summon Priest
1 Chaos Sorcerer
1 Dark Armed Dragon
3 Airbellums
2 Cyber Dragon
2 Priest of the Sun
1 Sangan
1 Mystic Tomato
1 Ryko
1 Keymouse
1 Des Koala
1 Plaguespreader Zombie
2 Krebons/Deep Sea Diva
2 Caius

Spells (13)
1 Smashing Ground
1 Cold Wave
1 Heavy Storm
1 Mystical Space Typhoon
2 Book of Moon
1 Brain Control
1 Mind Control
2 Pot of Avarice
1 My Body as Shield
1 Emergency Teleport/Instant Fusion
1 Allure of Darkness

Traps (6)
2 Bottomless Traphole
1 Mirror Force
1 Torrential Tribute
1 Trap Dustshoot
1 Solemn Judgement

Arcanite Beat/Synchro Cat modified netdeck. 4 '5-star' special summon monsters for 6 tuner monsters, supported by a Brain Control and Mind Control, for easy synchro summoning. I'm unsure of the number of Smashing Ground for the deck. 2-3 might be good but the other spells will require tweaking. No Royal Oppressions here because of the number special summoning this deck will perform.

There are 2 sub-engines alternatives for the deck: E. Tele. and Diva engine. The Diva engine will be good with the special summon monsters and Brain Control/Mind Control/Instant Fusion to summon up to 2 synchros in a turn. E.Tele. and the 2 Krebons will be more consistent with Allure of Darkness though.

This deck has ways to summon Arcanite Magician and Tempest Magician in a turn for a real Arcanite Beating. It involves the new card from The Shinning Darkness, Keymouse. (Keymouse will be good in Fiend Deity Roar decks!)

Gadgets for the next format

Monsters (18)
2 Green Gadget
2 Red Gadget
2 Yellow Gadget
3 D.D. Warrior Lady
3 Doomcalibur Knight/D.D. Assailant
3 Thunderking Raiou/Breaker
2 Cyber Dragon
1 Tragoedia/Gorz/Gale

Spells (11)
3 Smashing Ground
3 Book of Moon
2 Fissure
1 Heavy Storm
1 Mystical Space Typhoon
1 Shrink/Limiter Removal

Traps (11)
3 Dimensional Prison
2 Royal Oppression
2 Bottomless Traphole
1 Solemn Judgement
1 Mirror Force
1 Trap Dustshoot
1 Torrential Tribute

Standard Gadgets in my opinion. I think Gadgets have been getting a lot of key cards back since the last format. This time they lose Tragoedia but gain a play set of Smashing Ground.

Blackwings for the next format

Monsters (19)
1 Dark Armed Dragon
1 Gale
3 Sirocco
3 Shura
3 Kalut
3 Bora
2 Blizzard
2 Vayu
1 Breeze

Spells (10)
2 Black Whirlwind
1 Allure of Darkness
3 Black Feather Treasure
1 Heavy Storm
1 Mystical Space Typhoon
1 Brain Control
1 Mind Control

Traps (11)
3 Icarus Attack
2 Royal Oppression
2 Bottomless Traphole
1 Mirror Force
1 Torrential Tribute
1 Trap Dustshoot
1 Solemn Judgement

This is standard Blackwings. They are hardly affected by the banlist and The Shinning Darkness expansion is going to help fill up the limited cards. Black Feather Treasure will help to get the Black Whirlwinds to your hand. Mind Control should be playable again thanks to the addition of Breeze. I think Blackfeather Dragon will be more useful once Blackwing Zephyros is released.

Edit: Swapped a Breeze for Vayu because of the Royal Oppressions and Black Feather Treasure as they stop special summoning.

Lightsworns for the next format

Monsters (22)
2 Judgement Dragon
2 Honest
1 Necro Gardna
1 Plaguespreader Zombie
1 Lumina
1 Ehren
2 Lyla
2 Garoth
2 Ryko
2 Wulf
2 Jain
2 Celestia
2 Aurkus

Spells (12)
1 Charge of the Light Brigade
1 Foolish Burial
1 Reinforcement of the Army
1 Spirit Burner
1 Heavy Storm
1 Mystical Space Typhoon
3 Solar Recharge
3 Book of Moon

Traps (6)
1 Mirror Force
1 Torrential Tribute
2 Bottomless Traphole
2 Beckoning Light

This pure build is not tested yet but Lightsworns should still be playable, they are just less explosive. 2 fewer Necro Gardnas means it is harder to tech that sole copy of Chaos Sorcerer unless you are going Twilight. I'm also not sure about D.D. Crow in the new format. (Useful against Vayu, Treeborn, Level Stealer and Lightsworns?)

I think Lightsworns will just become a Light Beatdown deck, protected by Aurkus and backed by Judgement Dragons. On a brighter note, lesser Necro Gardnas and Honest to clog up your hand...

Official March 2010 Banlist

Limited
- Mind Crush
- Lumina
- Necro Gardna
- Necroface
- Mezuki
- Tragoedia
- Chaos Sorcerer
- Charge of the Light Brigade
- Allure of Darkness
- D-Draw
- Burial from a Different Dimension
- Magical Explosion
- Foolish Burial

Semi-Limited
- Cyber Dragon
- Dandylion
- Treeborn Frog
- Honest
- Demise, King of Armageddon
- United We Stand
- Black Whirlwind
- Skill Drain
- Royal Oppression
- Royal Decree

Unrestricted
- Mask of Darkness
- Smashing Ground

Source: http://shriek.twoday.net/stories/6192267/

Oh well, the previous list I posted was only a few cards off. Judgement Dragon and Solar Recharge remains for Lightsworns. I think the Lumina and Necro Gardna hit is still too much for Lightsworns.

On another note, Dandylion to 2 will help to sell the new TCG Absolute Powerforce Special Edition.

Additional thoughts: Dimensional Eatos not only loses a Skill Drain, but also 2 competitive decks that depended on the graveyard heavily: Lightsworns and Zombies. Blackwings and GB (Gladiator Beasts) are hardly affected by being RFG. (Removed from game) GB can in fact use Guardian Eatos and Dimensional Fissure as well.

March Banlist 2010 - This looks like it!

Shriek.twoday.net usually posts it on 18 February for the Yugioh March Banlist. It comes out on the newest issue of V-Jump on 20 February but according to posts mentioned on the Pojo Boards, subscribers receive it around this few days.

There are many threads on banlist which are not real but I was looking out for post linking to Japanese blogs, as they will most likely provide the latest information. There was one Pojo thread that was deleted but fortunately I had the link to the blog in my history:

http://hikari0302.seesaa.net/article/141247177.html

No list here but a picture of the V-Jump along with details of the number of cards banned, limited, semi-limited or unrestricted. This was posted on 16 February midnight.

Right now (around 3pm), there is a latest post with a link to another blog which contains a list this time:

http://www.pojo.biz/board/showthread.php?t=808361 (I don't know if this will get taken down)

Blog post with Banlist: http://blog.livedoor.jp/mitsu713/archives/51636991.html

The number of cards match the numbers given in the first blog and blogged at 2:57PM. I think this looks like the list!

For those who are trying to translate, putting the words on those translating tools may return weird names that make it hard to guess the actual card. I suggest putting each word on google and checking the images returned or the searched link from yugioh-wiki.net/index.php which is usually the first few links. If you have the OCG card, you could check for the wording directly to be sure.

For your convenience (In the same order as it appears in that blog):

Limited
- Judgement Dragon
- Lumina
- Necro Gardna
- Necroface
- Mezuki
- Tragoedia
- Chaos Sorcerer
- Charge of the Light Brigade
- Allure of Darkness
- D-Draw
- Burial from a Different Dimension
- Magical Explosion

Semi-Limited
- Cyber Dragon
- Dandylion
- Treeborn Frog
- Honest
- Demise, King of Armageddon
- Solar Recharge
- Black Whirlwind
- Skill Drain
- Royal Oppression
- Royal Decree

Unrestricted
- Mask of Darkness
- Smashing Ground

I've been trying out Lightsworns with the previous list I posted below and I already found Lightsworns weakened. This list adds Lumina and Necro Gardna to the restriction and I am not sure if Lightsworns can be competitive now. Twilight versions loses 2 Tragoedia and 1 Chaos Sorcerer.

Blackwings lose an Allure and a Black Whirlwind but will gain more support in the upcoming Shinning Darkness set including Blackwing Treasure. Royal Oppressions are usually run in 2 so that semi-limitation does not affect much.

Gladiator Beasts do not gain much from this list: no semi-limited Bestiari or semi-limited Solemn Judgement. Smashing Ground is now at 3 but I think they will more likely be run at 2.

Zombies lose their 2nd Mezuki and I think the remaining card in the limited list is Burial from a Different Dimension. The previous format, Mezuki was at 1 and there were not much zombie decks around.

Dimensional Eatos deck lose a Skill Drain, Rituals deck gain another Demise (I think this is to support all the ritual cards released nowadays), Absolute Zero decks lose 2 D-Draws?, Monarch and Junk and Debris decks gain one more Treeborn Frog, a Cyber Dragon, a Dandylion.

That sums up most of the current meta's decks. Let's wait a few more days and we'll see the list from shriek soon.

UPDATE: The first blog above has been updated with a new post with the same list! The missing card is Burial from a Different Dimension.

http://hikari0302.seesaa.net/article/141328101.html

The card names here are even more accurate as the full name is given for each card. Googling their images give the card right away.

Junk Destroyer

Junk and Debris deck by Rauzes just got a boss monster!

http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Junk_Destroyer

I think this is going to help sell the latest Starter Deck 2010. This card can possibly destroy from 2 to 4 of your opponent's cards. However, it has to be tuned by either Junk Synchron or Quickdraw Synchron and the latter reduces the number of cards you can destroy due to the higher amount of stars. Using 1-stars (Tuningware gives even more card advantage) and tokens from Scapegoat or Dandylion will obviously make the card more effective. Level Stealer can help to offset 1 star off Quickdraw or other 5-stars monsters like Cyber Dragon/Oracle of the Sun. Throw in a De-synchro and you can potentially clear 8 cards off your opponent's field.

Decks using Junk Synchron/Quickdraw Synchron should definitely pack at least 1 in the extra deck. Decks based on Junk Synchron/Quickdraw Synchron will use 2-3 of these. I hope there are other good cards coming in Starter Deck 2010!

Blackfeather Dragon

When this card effect was first reviewed, I think many people were disappointed by the effect.

http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Black_Feather_Dragon

That and being not counted as a "Blackfeather"/"Blackwing" card so it doesn't work with Sirocco, Silverwind and Kalut or allow Bora and Gale to special summon, makes the card seem even worse.

The latest Yugioh 5Ds Episode 95 showed that the Blackfeather Dragon's burn effect can be used in another way. A new Blackwing monster: Blackwing - Zephyros the Elite provides another piece of the combo with the Dragon.

http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Blackwing_-_Zephyros_the_Elite

These 2 cards together with a card to set quickly create 4 Black Feather Counters in a short loop If your opponent has a 2800 and higher attack monster on his field, you can deal 2800 burn points and also attack over the 0 attack monster for 2800 damage to potentially end the game.

Against Wind, an old Blackwing card not frequently used will also be better with the BlackFeather Dragon. Getting back Blackwings out of range from Dark Eruption will not be as painful when the Dragon is on the field.

I think Blackfeather Dragon might see some use once Zephyros the Elite is released. It will only take one space in the Extra Deck and although situational, it is another game-ending card for Blackwings. Use it when you see a Goyo Guardian, Dark Armed Dragon, Judgement Dragon, GB Herk, Infernity Death Dragon, etc, and you can maybe sneak in a win. Just don't use the effect to burn when your opponent has a Blackfeather Dragon too...

"Leaked" March 2010 Banlist

Not too long ago, there was a Pojo.com Yu-Gi-Oh! Forum posting on a supposed "leaked" March 2010 banlist, that was quickly taken down. Fortunately, google has a cache version of the forum posting:
http://74.125.153.132/search?q=cache:BP1q79LV9pAJ:www.pojo.biz/board/showthread.php%3Fp%3D16644074+pojo+latest+rumoured+march&cd=1&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=sg

I did not expect the banning of Brain Control. It is hardly ever used in Gladiator Beasts, Dimensional Eatos and Lightsworns so those 3 deck archetypes will not be affected much. Every other decks most probably main one.

Brionic will be most definitely be limited in the TCG banlist. However, I think limiting Black Whirlwind will affect Blackwings badly so I think semi-limiting will be more suitable. Chaos Sorcerer's limiting is possible. I don't know about Beckoning Light to 1 but it can be a powerful game-ender if enough cards are milled, so maybe that's the reason. Burial from a Different Dimension's limiting will be to cripple Vayu Turbo and Zombies, although Adam Corn's Diva Zombies only used one copy in the recent SJC Los Angeles. Magician of Faith to one will be an interesting card for Lightsworns to use. I think Gyzarus to 1 will not affect GBs much as they can tag Gyzarus out to tag back again for its effect later.

Semi-limiting Bestiari will make GBs more competitive again although the limiting of Solemn Judgement has weaken the deck severely. Charge of the Light Brigade to 2 will slow down Lightsworns. Cyber Dragon and Emergency Teleport to 2 is quite broken, I do not think it will come true. Book of Moon is a very useful card but I think there isn't much of a difference between using 2 and 3.

Un-restricting Snipe Hunter might be to help sell the upcoming Infernities cards. It is also good for Zombies. Lonefire Blossoms to 3 may be possible as Plants are not competitive yet.

Those were the "leaked" banlist cards. I really like to see Bestiari put to 2 but let's wait and see when the real list is revealed next month.

Lightsworn: Fade to Black

Nice read here, “CROWSWORN” – A YU-GI-OH! DECK REPORT BY ALLEN PENNINGTON which I saw over at the Irish Duelist's post: Allen Pennington: "Crowsworn". Allen's take on lightsworn is a twilight version that uses 2 D.D. Crows which double as "traps". This reminds me of Rauzes' Silk and Milk post: Latest Craze: Full Monster, where some monsters can actually serve as spells or traps. Lightsworns already have Necro Gardnas and Honest which fulfill those type of monsters.

I wanted to netdeck/build Allen's deck but I do not have any Gold Sarcophaguses so I decide to do away with Gorz and the 2 Gold Sarcos to replace them with 3 Battle Faders. This way the deck is OCG official tournament legal and they serve as "Threatening Roars" and also darks for Chaos Sorcerers if they get milled. I also intend to replace the Bottomless Trap Holes with Mirror Force as I think the deck needs cards other than Judgment Dragon to mass clear threats after dropping the Battle Faders. I will replace the other Bottomless for the third Beckoning Light, as the trap can be a powerful game-ender and 3 graveyard retrieval cards is better for lightsworns in my opinion.

For the sidedeck, I will have to replace the 4 cards in the list which I do not have: 2 Wabokus, My Body as Shield and Kycoo for 2 Threatening Roars and 2 Monster Reincarnations to go with Royal Decrees. I intend to replace Phantom Chaos for another Black Shiny "G" to keep the deck OCG official tournament legal. Black Shiny "G" are also another silk and milk type of card.

Monsters: 27
2 Judgment Dragon
2 Celestia, Lightsworn Angel
3 Lumina, Lightsworn Summoner
1 Garoth, Lightsworn Warrior
1 Ehren, Lightsworn Monk
2 Lyla, Lightsworn Sorceress
1 Ryko, Lightsworn Hunter
2 Wulf, Lightsworn Beast
3 Necro Gardna
3 Honest
2 Chaos Sorcerer
3 Battle Fader
2 D.D. Crow

Spells: 9
3 Charge of the Light Brigade
3 Solar Recharge
1 Heavy Storm
1 Mystical Space Typhoon
1 My Body as a Shield

Traps: 4
1 Mirror Force
3 Beckoning Light

Sidedeck: 15
2 Threatening Roar
2 Royal Decree
2 Dust Tornado
1 Aurkus, Lightsworn Druid
2 Lightning Vortex
1 Breaker the Magical Warrior
2 Shiny Black “G”
1 Nobleman of Crossout
2 Monster Reincarnation

After reading all the rumors about the upcoming March Banlist, I think Chaos Sorcerer might be put to 1 or 0 and Charge of the Light Brigade, to 2. I think the lightsworns should still be playable after March and the deck will have more space for other cards.

Credits to Allen Pennington for the original deck, Crowsworn.
