Guardian Cross card-battle RPG iOS Freemium game by Square Enix

Final Fantasy meets Sniper iOS games meets Pokemon Card Game meets Devil Survivor meets Super Street Fighter IV 3DS Streetpass battle. The game can get quite addictive and I find collecting the "Guardians" cards to be very fun. You have to snipe them in order to get them and I don't enjoy that part much though. The battles are quite brainless and it totally depends on how powerful your team of hunted "Guardians" are.

The interface is designed just right for a small touch screen like the iPhone. The game is also saved in the cloud after you set a password in the configuration screen, which is very convenient, especially with iPhone 5 coming out next week.

Update 18/09/2012: After 3 days and SGD$4.98 later, I find myself addicted to the game. The card and game artworks are beautiful and although I miss opening packs, the process of hunting for Guardians has began to grow on me. It makes the game such that you need to put in effort and not just money alone, to get your cards.

Assassin's Creed Recollection is now on iPhone/iPod Touch devices and is still free

I never though it will work due to the space constraints but after trying it, it doesn't feel too cramp. In fact, it makes the iPad version feel like it contains a lot of waste of space! To be fair, I was playing on the iPhone 4 and I think you'll need a retina-display capable device to enjoy the game on a smaller device. The game had some initial problem syncing my missions and credits but after 2 games, the game was in sync with my iPad version. I had to manually upload my decklists to the server from my iPad to transfer to the iPhone version though. I experience a bit of lag on my iPhone due to it using an older generation processor The iPhone 4S should perform as well as my iPad 2.

I have to admit that I lost quite a lot of interest in the game after all the "nerf" changes. Although it may balance the game on the surface (which it does of course), I think it takes away quite a lot of fun. EDIT: I also didn't like that the "nerf" changes seem to be suggested from the players instead of Ubisoft's own R&D team (if it exists). With this latest update to enable the game on my iPhone which is more portable, it will "win" just a few more games from me.

Assassin's Creed Recollections is now free and Lanz has been nerfed!

iTunes App Store link: Assassin's Creed Recollection - Ubisoft

I haven't played for a while since the 2 recent updates and I fired up the game to try out the new missions. I used my "Police & Thief" deck and surprise surprise... Lanz has been nerfed! His bonus to other Thieves are only given when he scores. His threat ability is still powerful but his overall power level has dropped.

It'll be interesting to find other balance changes, although an official announcement on all the errata would have been cool. I don't think I'll be updating my screenshots of the cards but may do a post on all the changes as I have the old Templar screenshots to compare.

Assassin's Creed Recollections Forum links

There are lots of info here and people are posting their deck-lists. You might not know what the decks are as there is still no card list. I'm enjoying the game and having fun although sometimes I have no clue what I'm doing or what happened. I have not figured out the "golden ratio" for the 3 main types of cards either. All I know is that as with most (all?) card games, card advantage is the key to winning.

There are 3 packs to buy: Templars (100 credits), Mixed (500 credits) and Assassins (900 credits). It goes without saying that Assassins Pack contain the best cards. I've not bought any packs yet and I'm reading that mixed packs might be a good buy as depending on your luck, you can get Assassins cards too.

Update (16/12/2011): Found another where more strategies and deck-lists are shared. I find myself losing constantly to the CPU in single player and am very tempted to buy packs. However, I'm still holding out for a card list before plunging in.

And also, there's a Thread in the Official Ubisoft forums.

Update (5/1/2012): Unofficial forum. Lots of decks in Deck Discussion and Specific Strategy Area. (Note this 2 areas might get merged)

Assassin's Creed Recollection review by TouchArcade

iPad Assassin's Creed Card Game at $0.99 now!

and no, I've not converted the blog to an Apple/iOS blog.

I haven't been keeping in touch with card games for a while now. The US version of Tag Force 6 is taking very long to be released. I've been spending time playing PS3 games like Batman Arkham City and Assassin's Creed Revelations and also Naruto Ultimate Ninja Impact on the PSP. (Best Naruto game I've played so far)

I just checked shriek.twoday.net and apart from the endless list of tournament deck-lists, notable articles are the release of the latest dragon structure decks and Gold Series 2012. I was surprised to find lightsworn cards in the structure deck and pot of duality in gold series, the latter is really tempting me to buy a box.

Anyway, the purpose of this post was to share this good deal on the Apple App Store for iPad: Assassin's Creed Recollections is $0.99(USD) currently. (Used to be $2.99(USD) which is about the price of a booster pack or two) Before the App Store came about, $2.99 games are unheard of, not to mention $0.99! I think the description listed it as a board game but I read reviews that it is a card game. A movie about the ending of Assassin's Creed character, Ezio, is also included in the game, adding to the value of the app. I'm very keen to learn and try out this new card game. If you are a fan of card games or Assassin's Creed games and have an iPad, no harm trying this out. It's only about the price of a cup of coffee!
